August 28, 2012 – The largest annual gathering of individuals, families, advocates, agencies, and friends of individuals with special needs and disabilities in Montreal is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2012.  The 2nd Annual Montreal Special Needs Fair will be held at the Holiday Inn Airport in Dorval from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Sponsors include Assante Wealth Management, Bank of Montreal (BMO), Ill Abilities Crew, Location Jean Legare and Buds In Bloom.

Special Needs Planning Workshop joins over 70 special needs community organizations and businesses across Quebec to put together the 2nd Annual Montreal Special Needs Fair 2012.  It is an opportunity for individual, families and professionals to discover the wonderful disability and special needs resources Montreal has to offer its Special Needs and Disabled Community.

The 1st Annual Montreal Special Needs Fair was held at the Hotel Ruby Foo’s on September 24, 2011 and was a huge success. The fair had succeeded in improving the lives of Montrealers with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers.   Last year’s event had 40 different exhibits which included special equipment vendors, recreational programs, family support services, intervention assistance, therapy plans and information on government agencies.

This year, the fair, free for families and individuals with disabilities and special needs, will feature a Resource Fair, enabling attendees the opportunity to speak with representatives from more than 70 agencies and vendors.  A variety of workshops are offered throughout the day.  Workshop topics included:  Empowering Your Child: Moving from Chaos to Calm, Bad Animals, A Father's Accidental Education in Autism, Taking the Bad & Making It Good, Chronic Parenting Challenges: Implications for Parental Health and Well-Being, and Special Needs Planning:  Planning For the Future of Your Special Needs Child.  A panel discussion on the topic of Living With Autism In Montreal:  Professional and Parental Perspectives will be held at 6:00 pm.  There will be demonstrations and raffle prizes as well.

Special guest speakers this year will include b-boy break-dancer and former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, Luca “Lazylegz” Patuelli and best selling author, Joel Yanofsky author of Bad Animals, A Father’s Accidental Education in Autism.

The Montreal Special Needs Fair reaches out to all ages and all sectors of the special needs community including children with special needs and disabilities, persons recovering from immobilizing accidents, individuals with chronic health concerns, individuals with mobility and spinal issues, people who have vision and hearing impairments, people with developmental disabilities and many more.

This Fair will present an opportunity for thousands of attendees to discover a vast array of products and services such as: assistive and adaptive technology, durable medical equipment, computer software, mobility products, living aids and more all conveniently displayed to see, touch, and compare in a "one-stop shopping" experience.

The Montreal Special Needs Fair 2012 is putting together an impressive line-up of exhibits, and activities to appeal to people of all ages with the full spectrum of disabilities—including physical, learning, development and sensory disabilities.
